What divisions does Lutz Baseball offer?
Tee Ball ($145)
Tee Ball Baseball is for boys and girls league age 4 & 5 who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee Ball, players hit off of a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. No live pitching is permitted in this division, and generally the diamond used is a 60-foot diamond, but the league has the option to use a 50-foot diamond. This division will have one designated weeknight practice per week (1 hour) and one game on Saturdays (8 to 10 games).
Pee Wee ($165)
Pee Wee Baseball is for boys and girls league age 5 to 6 who should have completed the Tee Ball division. This is a “coach pitch” division, the first introduction to the children hitting live pitching, and we stress fundamentals and teamwork. The foundation of Tee Ball should be built upon here. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 40 feet.
Rookie League Baseball is for boys and girls league age 7 & 8 who should have completed both Tee Ball and Pee Wee divisions. As always, fundamentals are stressed, and at this level you will start to see some skill in throwing, catching and batting. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 40 feet.
Minor League Baseball is for boys and girls league age 9 & 10. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. In most regions, participants first experience post-season tournament competition in this level. There is no coach pitching and the level of competition is a notch higher. The diamond used is a 65-foot diamond with lead offs and the pitching distance is 46 feet.
Major 50/70 ($190)
Majors (50-70) Baseball is for boys and girls league age 11 & 12 and is one of the most popular and exciting divisions we offer. Execution of fundamentals is much more commonplace at this level, and this is the last division before the “big field”. The diamond used is a 70-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 50 feet.
Babe Ruth Juniors Baseball is for league age 13 through 15 and and plays on a full size, “major league” field of 90 foot base paths and a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches.
